South 10th Street was originally named McKee Street.[1][2][3] However, two maps from 1855 and 1856 label it Wilkins Street.[4][5]
In 1869, an ordinance of the Birmingham borough council numbered all of the north–south streets, and McKee Street became 10th Street.[6][7] The "South" prefix was added by a Pittsburgh city ordinance in 1881;[8] see South First Street for more details.
