South Ninth Street was originally named Craig Street.[1][2][3][4][5] Today, of course, Craig Street is a street in North Oakland.
Craig Street was renamed Ninth Street by an ordinance of the Birmingham borough council in 1869.[6] The "South" prefix was added by a Pittsburgh city ordinance in 1881;[7] see South First Street for more details.
