Notes:Villa Street (Friendship)

1869-05-31: Common Council (Source:Municipal-record-1869, p. 57): "Survey Committee. ¶ Mr. CHISLETT, Chairman of the Survey Committee, presented profiles of grades of streets in the Sixteenth ward; plan of Hazlett street; and plan of streets through the Roup farm, Twentieth ward. ¶ Report accepted and profiles and plans approved."

1872: Source:Hopkins-1872, p. 63, shows the streets later shown in the 1882 edition, including Villa Street, but most of them (including Villa) are not labeled.

1872-12-23: Common Council (Source:Municipal-record-1872, p. 126): "Profiles of the following streets: . . . , Villa street, . . . , all of which were approved."

1881-03-04: Source:Ordinance-1880-1881-33: "Villa street, from Rebecca street to Negley street, Twentieth ward."

1882: Source:Hopkins-1882, plate 18: Villa Street running northwest–southeast from Rebecca Street to Negley Avenue. This is completely different from its later location.

1882-06-29: Source:Ordinance-1882-1883-9 established the location of several streets, including Villa, "as shown upon the plan marked 'Pittsburgh, C. W. H.,' hereto attached and made part hereof; the said plan being a modification of plan approved by Councils May 31st, A. D. 1869, and on file in the City Engineer's Office."

1886-03-02: Source:Ordinance-1885-1886-170 established the location of several streets, including Villa, "in the territory bounded by Centre avenue, Rebecca street, Penn avenue and Highland avenue."

1889-09-04: Source:Ordinance-1889-1890-72 located Villa Street from Penn Avenue to Friendship Avenue.

1890: Source:Hopkins-1890-4, plates 6, 7, 10: modern layout of streets (though not modern names).

1891-04-14: Source:Ordinance-1890-1891-247: "Changing the name of Villa street between Harriet street and Penn avenue to Roup street."

1896-01-18: Source:Ordinance-1895-1896-697: "Changing the name of Villa street, between Baum street and the intersection of Harriet street and Roup Place, to 'Fairmount street.'"

1910-04-05: Source:Ordinance-1909-1910-716: "Villa, from Baum av. to Roup av., 8th wd."

1915-04-29: Source:Ordinance-1915-117: "Villa street, from Roup avenue to Baum boulevard, Eighth ward, be changed to South Fairmount street."
