Isle Way

Isle Way
Neighborhood Squirrel Hill South
Isle Alley (until 1914)

This alley was laid out in 1901 in the Squirrel Hill plan, though that plan did not give it a name.[1] It was named Isle Alley by 1906, when it was mentioned in city ordinances establishing the grades of Ibsen Alley and Inez Alley.[2][3] It became Isle Way in 1914, when another ordinance changed all alleys in Pittsburgh to ways.[4]

Isle Way is one of a set of alleys in the district bounded by Morrowfield Avenue, Beechwood Boulevard, Monitor Street, and Murray Avenue whose names begin with the letter I: the others are Ibsen Way, Ikon Way, Inez Way, and Ira Way.
