This street was laid out as Flach Street (with an H) in 1887 in a plan of lots by the St. Clair Real Estate Company.[1] The name was spelled with a K almost from the beginning: for example, it is listed as "Flack street" in a 1903 ordinance of Lower St. Clair Borough requiring the numbering of houses on the street.[2]
St. Clair Borough was annexed by Pittsburgh on January 1, 1923.[3] That November, a city ordinance officially established the name Flach Street (with an H) as a Pittsburgh street name.[4]
The spelling was changed to Flack Street (with a K) by a resolution of City Council in 1993.[5]
