Ordinance No. 22

An Ordinance requiring the preparation of a plan indicating the lots and houses fronting on certain streets in Lower St. Clair Township by numbers and requiring the numbering of the same by the owners thereof, and providing a penalty for the failure to number any lot or house required.

Sec 1 Be it enacted by the Board of Commissioners of Lower St. Clair Township and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, that

Sec 2 The Ordinance Officer be and he is hereby directed to prepare a plan of the following streets or parts of streets, in Lower St. Clair Township, to wit:

  • Southern Avenue
  • Quincy Avenue
  • Giffin Avenue
  • Carbon street
  • Overhill Avenue
  • Scott street
  • Steward street
  • Mellon street
  • Banks street
  • St. Josephs street
  • Fischer Avenue
  • Carson street
  • Ruling street
  • Penn Avenue
  • Arlington Avenue
  • Sylvan street
  • Spring street
  • Clover street
  • Fulton street
  • Onyx street
  • Transverse Avenue
  • Walter Avenue
  • Short street
  • Ricktenwald street
  • Phillip street
  • Charles street
  • Grape street
  • Church Avenue
  • Walde Avenue
  • Jane street
  • Henger street
  • Luther street
  • Wabash street
  • Bluff street
  • Sterling street
  • Flack street
  • Hays Avenue

which plan shall indicate the lots and the houses erected thereon and he shall number said lots in such manner as to procure uniformity in the numbers thereof.

Sec 3 It shall be the duty of said Ordinance Officer to notify the owners of lots having houses erected thereon of the number given to the lot owned by each respectively and require him or her to cause a printed, carved or cast number of such number to be placed in a conspicious [sic] place upon such property in a permanent and durable manner; and in case anyone shall neglect to place said number upon his or her house for thirty days after notice to do so, he or she shall forfeit and pay the sum of Five Dollars ($5.00) to be recovered as debts of like amount are now recoverable.

Ordained and enacted into a law this first day of June, 1903.
