Squirrel Hill Avenue

From Pittsburgh Streets
Squirrel Hill Avenue
Neighborhood Squirrel Hill North
Origin of name Neighborhood of Squirrel Hill, or the hill itself

The location and grade of Squirrel Hill Avenue were established by city ordinances in 1902.[1][2]

It is named either for the neighborhood of Squirrel Hill or for the hill itself. The hill was given this name by Native Americans, who used it as a hunting ground and named it for the many squirrels there.[3][4]
