Loughrey Street formerly ran from Northumberland Street to Forbes Avenue where Gladstone Road and Schenley Road are today, though it is unclear whether it was ever actually built. It was laid out in 1875 in an unrecorded plan subdividing the estate of D. H. Fralich (for whom Fralich Street, today part of Margaret Morrison Street, was named).[1] It appears, unlabeled, in the 1890 Hopkins atlas, among properties owned by Joseph Loughrey, Margaret C. Loughrey, and T. R. Loughrey.[2] It is labeled "Loughrey St." in the 1911 edition, though it is drawn with dashed lines.[3] It was officially vacated by the City of Pittsburgh in 1958 upon recommendation by the Department of City Planning.[4][1]
