Jackson Street is mentioned in the annual report of the Survey Committee presented to the Pittsburgh Common Council on December 28, 1870, in a list of streets laid out during the year: "Jackson street, 50 feet [wide] from Hiland avenue to Wayne street [approximately modern Samantha Way], levels and stones set."[1] The street appears in the 1872 Hopkins atlas.[2]
