Henn Street

From Pittsburgh Streets
Henn Street
Neighborhood Arlington
Grape Street (until 1923)

This street formerly ran from the southern end of Rinne Street to the southern end of Dengler Street, when both of those streets extended slightly further south than they do today.

It was laid out in 1901 in a plan of lots by Joseph Goldbach, Sr., though that plan did not give it a name.[1] It was approximately in line with Grape Street to the west, though the two streets did not connect.[2] It was considered part of Grape Street by 1918.[3][4]

St. Clair Borough was annexed by Pittsburgh on January 1, 1923.[5] That November, a Pittsburgh city ordinance renamed many streets in the former borough to fix duplicates. There was already a Grape Street in Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar (today Grapevine Street), so the western part of this Grape Street was changed to Topeka Street, and the eastern part was renamed Henn Street.[6]

Henn Street does not exist today. It is never again mentioned in the Municipal Record after the ordinance that gave it that name.
