This street was laid out as Circle Avenue in 1892 in the Sheraden Land & Improvement Company's addition to the Sheraden Terrace plan, presumably named for the circular arc it follows.[1] After Sheraden Borough was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1907,[2] this name conflicted with that of Circle Alley in Homewood (today Cinibar Way), so it was renamed Christy Street by a city ordinance the following year.[3]
