Camfield Street

From Pittsburgh Streets
Camfield Street
Neighborhood Bon Air
Morse Street (until 1907)
Morton Street (until 1900)
Portion North–south segment south of the angle north of Bandi Avenue
Caledonia Avenue (1907–1909)

This street was originally laid out in 1889 in a plan of lots for John Bandi. The northernmost segment, running in a northeast–southwest direction from Tarragonna Street to the angle north of modern Bandi Avenue, was named Morse Street; the remaining north–south segment was named Morton Street.[1][2] Other plans laid out here later in 1889 show Morton Street on their western edges.[3][4]

In 1900, two plans that were laid out to the west of this street extended the name Morse Street (or "Morse Avenue") to its entire length.[5][6][7]

Morse Street was renamed Caledonia Avenue by a West Liberty Borough ordinance in 1907.[8]

West Liberty Borough was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1908,[9] and the following year a Pittsburgh city ordinance changed the name again to Camfield Street.[10]
