A short piece of this street was laid out in 1864 in a plan of lots for Robert Wray and Augustus Hoeveler, though that plan did not give it a name.[1] Rebecca Baum's neighboring 1873 plan of lots laid out Aloe Street in approximately the same line from Mathilda Street to Gross Street.[2] It is labeled Olive Street in the 1882 Hopkins atlas,[3] but this is an error.
