Way Way (1914–1934)

A plan of lots was laid out in 1891 for the Blair and Johnston estates that included an unnamed alley from the northern end of Volt Alley (today Steele Court) to the northern end of Electric Street.[1]

By 1910, this alley had apparently been named Way Alley, as that is the name under which it is listed in a city ordinance that established the names of all thoroughfares in Pittsburgh.[2]

Another city ordinance in 1914 changed all alleys in Pittsburgh to ways.[3] As an unintended and probably unrecognized consequence, the name of this small alley became Way Way!

Way Way was renamed Nordica Street by a city ordinance in 1934.[4]
