1816-02-24: Pittsburgh Gazette, p. 2 (Newspapers.com 96049366): "A Valuable Piece of Land, FOR SALE, ¶ CONTAINING about FIVE ACRES, situated on Squirrel Hill, about four miles and an half from Pittsburgh, in Pitt Township, adjoining lands of David Irwin and James Fleming. . . . ¶ Barny M'Ginty. ¶ February 10, 1815."

1851: Source:Sidney-neff shows "D. Irwin" on the east side of modern Shady Avenue somewhat to the south of Aylesboro Avenue.

1872: Source:Hopkins-1872, p. 67, shows land of Irwin estate. Also shows a road roughly in the location of modern Aylesboro Avenue.

1885-03-17: Source:Ordinance-1884-1885-130 authorized the opening of Irwin Avenue from Shady Avenue to Dallas Avenue.
