This alley was first laid out as Nice Alley in 1893 in a plan of lots by the South Side Land Purchasing Association.[1] It was renamed Nice Way by a Carrick Borough ordinance in 1905.[2][3]
Nice Way was extended westward by Bertha Mewes' 1906 plan[4] and the 1929 Raleigh Square plan.[5][6]
Charles F. Danver included Nice Way in a list of unusual Pittsburgh street names in a 1937 Post-Gazette column.[7]
