This street was originally named Maple Street, for Thomas Maple, who, with his father-in-law Benjamin McLain, laid out the streets of Allentown and Beltzhoover.[1][2][3][4]
In 1910, over 900 streets were renamed to eliminate duplicates, and Maple Street was renamed Millbridge Street.[5][2] C. A. Weslager remarked, "there was never a mill or bridge to warrant the name."[2]
