Neighborhoods | East Liberty, Highland Park, Larimer |
Origin of name | Probably a meadow on the Larimer farm |
Meadow Street was laid out in 1856 in the subdivision of the farm of William Larimer, Jr.[1] (1809–1875), for whom Larimer Avenue and the neighborhood of Larimer are named. The street was probably given this name because it ran through or near a meadow on this farm.
It appears, unlabeled, in an 1862 map of Allegheny County, which shows a racecourse between this street and what is now Shetland Street.[2] Meadow Street is labeled in the 1872 Hopkins atlas.[3]
