This road was originally called Marlborough Place. It is mentioned in a 1908 newspaper article reporting a real estate transaction there.[1]
The name Marlborough Road came into use by 1919, when it appeared in a newspaper want ad.[2]
It was officially laid out in the Marlborough Place plan in March 1926. The plan and the dedication of Marlborough Road were accepted, and the road was opened and named, by a city ordinance later that year.[3]
Marlborough Road is probably named for Marlborough Avenue, as it lies on the same line.
