"Another lease in Wood street: Four-story building near Fifth avenue rented to B. B. & B. for five-year term: Sales in Squirrel Hill: New York Brokers seeking Pittsburgh bargains—California purchase made." Pittsburgh Gazette Times, Dec. 11, 1908, p. 14. Newspapers.com 85423356.
The Real Estate Trust Company has leased for A. S. Hunter, et al., to the B. B. & B. Trunk Company the four-story building situate at No. 447 Wood street, for the term of five years and five months from December 1, 1908, for the total rental of $44,008 33. This building was formerly occupied by the Loveless Shoe Company, and is the second door from Fifth avenue. The new tenant will make extensive improvements, putting in a new front, tile floors, private staircase to upper floors and will take possession as soon as these improvements can be completed.
By a coincidence the B. B. & B. Company and Reymer & Bros., which have been tenants of Nos. 520 and 522 Wood street, respectively, for several years, have secured new locations adjoining each other, Reymer & Bros. having taken a long lease on the property at Fifth avenue and Wood street. The building at 520–22 Wood street has been leased to Huylers of New York.

The Land Trust Company, represented by Thomas Travers, sold for W. J. Griffith, to M. Shiras the residence at 5729 Darlington road, Twenty-second ward, for $9,000, taking in part payment 70 × 133 feet, vacant, in Marlborough place, Twenty-second ward, at $7,000. The Darlington road house is a [sic] 11-room reception hall brick on 34 × 150 feet. Mr. Griffith, it is understood, intends improving the Marlborough place with a handsome dwelling.
Broker John A. Sharp has sold for Bayard Guthrie an 11-room reception hall residence on 45 × 150 feet at 1534 Denniston avenue, Twenty-second ward, for $15,000. The buyer, whose name is withheld, expects to occupy the house as a home.
Another proof of the real value of Pittsburgh real estate has come to sight in the sale of the W. L. Phillips home in Morewood place, Twenty-second ward, to Mary Fisher Harwood for approximately $20,000. The house is a fine stone structure on 57 × 116 × 95 feet and is the former home of Charles Bradley, Jr. Some time last summer it was sold to Mr. Phillips for $13,000 by the Colonial Trust Company, who had obtained title a short time before by sheriff's deed. The sale of the property so soon goes to show how solid values are in city property, and these forces sales that now and then turn up nearly always are opportunities for the man with judgment. The broker in the recent sale was J. H. Palmer of the Second National bank building.

The purchase of a ranch containing about 8,000 acres of land near Los Angeles, Cal., by Dr. W. F. Fundenberg, formerly of Pittsburgh, is reported, the price being about $175,000. Dr. Fundenberg has been making his home at Riverside, Cal., where he is erecting a handsome house, and he made his recent deal with Frank A. Tetley of that place. The property is known as the Lynch estate or Los Nogales rancho. The land is especially adapted to the growth of citrous [sic] fruits.
Henry W. Armstrong sold for Elizabeth B. O'Neil to Nathan H. Wetstein 37½ × 120 feet in the south side of Wilkins avenue, Twenty-second ward, for $1,600.
Representatives of New York city real estate firms are frequent callers in Pittsburgh since the announcement of recent exchange deals in which Pittsburgh and New York properties figured. A Fourth avenue broker reported that three New York real estate men called upon him yesterday, saying that they were looking for business.
David Sheffler purchased from Samuel S. Gardner 24 × 97 feet, improved, in Grove street, Thirteenth ward, for $3,775.
