| Origin of name | John Manchester |
This former alley ran from Kearns Avenue to Greentree Road in the area opposite Junius Street. It was laid out as Manchester Way in a plan of lots for John Manchester and Ephraim and Ann Clay, recorded in 1868.[1] It appears in the 1872 Hopkins atlas.[2]
Manchester Way was renamed Mayburg Way in 1925.[3]
This alley was never opened for public use, and by 1929 all surrounding land was the property of the Pittsburgh and West Virginia Railways Company, so Mayburg Way was vacated by a city ordinance that year.[4]
