This street was originally named Linden Street.[1] It was renamed Laplace Street by a city ordinance in 1881.[2] The street name was established as La Place Street by another ordinance in 1910;[3] current street signs say LaPlace Street.
Bob Regan includes "LaPlace" in a list of streets named for noted historical people;[4] the implied eponym seems to be Pierre-Simon Laplace (1749–1827), French scientist and mathematician.
