Origin of name Atlantic Ocean
Herman Street (until 1888)

Atlantic Avenue was originally named Herman Street (or Herman Avenue).[1] It was renamed Atlantic Avenue in 1888.[2]

Bob Regan includes Atlantic Avenue (and nearby Pacific Avenue) in a list of streets named for oceans.[3]

The western portion of Baum Boulevard, between Craig Street and Liberty Avenue, was once considered part of Atlantic Avenue.[4][5] It was renamed Atherton Avenue in 1910[6] and then became part of Baum Boulevard in 1913.[7]
