This street was laid out as Harrison Street in a plan of lots by Christian Hetzel, recorded in 1889.[1]
Allegheny City was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1907.[2] In 1910, over 900 streets in the greater city were renamed to fix duplicates. Pittsburgh already had a Harrison Street in Lawrenceville, so this street on the North Side was changed to Harbor Street.[3]
