Origin of name Sir Peter Halkett, 2nd Baronet

Halket Street is named for Sir Peter Halkett, 2nd Baronet (1695–1755).[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] Annie Clark Miller, writing in 1924, spells the name of the street with two T's.[3]

At its eastern end, Halket Street originally turned south and ran to the Monongahela River.[8][9] By 1872, it ran only to Frazier Street.[10] The segment from Frazier Street to Wilmot Street (today the Boulevard of the Allies) was made part of Hodge Street in 1908.[11] Most of this segment no longer exists.
