This alley was laid out as Albert Way in 1920 in the Inglewood Gardens plan.[1]
Overbrook Borough was annexed by Pittsburgh in January 1930.[2] That April, a city ordinance changed many of the street names in the former borough; Albert Way was changed to Frigate Way to avoid confusion with Albert Street in Mount Washington.[3]
