Portion Short distance north and south of Hetzel Street
Fall Street

The portion of this alley nearest to Hetzel Street was laid out as Ann Street in a plan of lots by Adam Reineman in 1871.[1]

It was extended northward as Fall Street in a plan of lots by Christian Hetzel, recorded in 1889.[2]

The name Fall Street was confirmed in a 1910 Pittsburgh city ordinance that officially established the names of all thoroughfares in the city; it listed "Fall, from Damas to prop. line, 24th and 26th wds.," with the stipulation that "all names not otherwise designated in this Ordinance shall be and the same are hereby fixed as 'streets.'"[3]

It was extended south of Damas Street in 1918 in the Spring Hill Park plan, which named the extension Fall Way.[4][5] This name seems to have subsequently been applied to the whole length.

Ann Street was officially made part of Fall Street in 1924.[6]
