This alley was first laid out as Edgar Alley in a plan of lots by J. W. Hay, recorded in 1889.[1][2] It became Edgar Way in 1914, when a city ordinance changed all alleys in Pittsburgh to ways.[3]
In 1927, after Carrick Borough was annexed by Pittsburgh,[4] Edgar Way was renamed Edlam Way to avoid confusion with Edgar Street in Carrick.[5]
