The {{patent}} template is used to make a citation for a patent. Sources that use the {{patent}} template are added to Category:Patent sources.

Full syntax

{{patent |first1= |last1= |suffix1= |first2= |last2= |suffix2= |title= |type= |number= |date= |reissue= |reissue-date= |source-name={{subst:PAGENAME}} }}	first1	The first patent holder's first name. For a patent with only one patent holder, first can be used as a synonym.
	last1	The first patent holder's last name, or the whole name of the first patent holder when that patent holder has a single name (such as an organization). For a patent with only one patent holder, last can be used as a synonym.
	suffix1	The first patent holder's suffix (e.g., Jr.). See {{name}}. For a patent with only one patent holder, suffix can be used as a synonym.
	first2	The second patent holder's name.
	last2
	suffix2
	title	The title of the patent. This should be in sentence case.
	type	By default, a patent is assumed to be a U. S. patent. To cite a U. S. design patent, set type=design.
	number	The patent number.
	date	The date of the patent.
	reissue	If the patent was reissued, the number of the reissue.
	reissue-date	The date of the reissue.
	source-name	The page name of this source (in the "Source" namespace). This is used to provide a link to the source page.
