Origin of name | Oliver H. Rippey |
Rippey Street is named for Oliver H. Rippey, colonel of the 61st Pennsylvania Infantry in the American Civil War. He was a veteran of the Mexican–American War. He was killed in the Battle of Seven Pines on May 31, 1862, and is buried in Allegheny Cemetery.[1][2] See also Black Street and Hays Street.
