Ridgeville Street
From Pittsburgh Streets
Ridgeville Street | |
---|---|
Neighborhood | Squirrel Hill North |
Origin of name | Modification of Ridgewood, its original name |
Ridgewood Street (until 1910) |
This street was laid out as Ridgewood Street in 1908 in the Hamnett plan.[1]
After Allegheny City was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1907,[2] over 900 streets were renamed to fix duplicates. To avoid confusion with Ridgewood Street in Perry South, this Squirrel Hill street was renamed Ridgeville Street.[3] This is just a modification of the original Ridgewood.
