This alley formerly ran south from Allequippa Street in the area near the modern intersection of Burrows Street and Benson Place. It appears as Pleasant Way in the 1872 Hopkins atlas.[1] This name conflicted with Pleasant Alley in Lawrenceville (today Pleasant Way), so an 1881 city ordinance changed its name to Pilot Alley (this ordinance said that its former name was Pleasant Alley).[2] It became Pilot Way in 1914 when another ordinance changed all alleys to ways.[3] It was vacated in 1939, along with the surrounding streets and alleys.[4]
