  • 1891-05-12 (p. 50): "The Street com. report read & on motion of Mr Reed accepted This report contains the recommendation as to changing names of Streets from A & B to Mayflower & Oak & from Tioga to Amanda."
  • 1891-07-14 (p. 61): "In reference to the ordinance changing name of Streets Mr Hausell moved that it be read for Second reading by title only which was done by the clerk & motion of J. L. Speer accepted ¶ Mr Rothweileer that it be read by Sections on third reading—The clerk then read it by sections—Section 1 adopted as read—Section 2nd Mr Speer moved to change name of Street to Amanda Avenue ¶ Section 3rd adopted as read changing name of Street A to Mayflower ¶ Section 4 adopted as read— ¶ Mr Speer then moved that the whole ordinance be referred back to the Ordinance Committee which was done"

1892-05-10: Source:Ordinance-brushton-21 renamed Street A to Mayflower Street.

1893-01-23: Brushton borough ordinance 28[?], "An ordinance re-establishing the grade of Wood Street, Oak Street, and portions of Kelly street; Mulford Avenue, Frankstown Avenue, Hamilton Ayenue [sic], Park Way, Tioga Street, West Street and the westerly curb of Pitt Street, and the curb grade of a portion of Tioga Street" (last ordinance in Source:Brushton-ordinances) mentions Mayflower Street.

1894-12-01: Source:Thirty-seventh-ward says that nearly half of the names of Brushton will have to be changed, giving Wood Street as an example.

1894-12-03: Source:New-street-names says that the incoming 37th Ward (Brushton) has many streets that duplicate the names of city thoroughfares and will need to be renamed, and that this will be done by a Pittsburgh councilmanic committee.

1894-12-18: Brushton annexed (Source:Lgeo-brushton-annexation).

1894-12-31: Source:Municipal-record-1894-1895, Common Council, p. 267: "The Chair presented ¶ A certificate of election of Thomas Tyson as member from the Thirty-seventh ward, formerly the Borough of 'Brushton.' ¶ Which was read and received. ¶ And Thomas Tyson being present took the oath of office, which was administered to him by the President."

Lower bounds for Brushton street name changes: mentions of old street names, suggesting that the streets had not yet been renamed (but some of these may just be using the old names):

  • 1895-01-14: Source:Ordinance-1894-1895-253 mentions Wood Street (modern Oakwood Street) and Harriet Street (modern Hale Street).
  • 1895-03-17: "Director Bigelow opens bids," Pittsburg Press, p. 6 (Newspapers.com 141554051): "The sewers are to be laid on Franklin avenue, from Wood to Sterrett; . . . , and also on Harriett, Wood, Kelly, Hamilton, Tioga, Blaine, Park way and Brushton avenue."
  • 1895-03-18: Source:Ordinance-1894-1895-335 mentions "Catherine street, from Mulford street to Braddock avenue" (part of modern Susquehanna Street).
  • 1895-04-20: "Real estate," Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette, p. 3 (Newspapers.com 85559897): "Brooks, Shuemaker & Co. sold to Walter Stevenson a lot 60 × 137 on Kelly street, Brushton, Thirty-seventh ward, for $1,500 cash; also, placed a mortgage of $1,500, at 6 per cent, on Elliott street property, same ward, . . . ."
  • 1895-05-10: "Mercantile appraiser's list," Pittsburg Post, pp. 16–17 (Newspapers.com 86409972, 86409991) mentions several old street names.
  • 1895-08-30: "Real estate," Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette, p. 3 (Newspapers.com 85428362): "W. T. Richardson has sold 63 feet fronting on Beechwood street, and two-story dwelling in Thirty-seventh ward, for Mary E. Keller."
  • 1895-12-03: "Real estate," Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette, p. 3 (Newspapers.com 85452417): "S. A. Dickie & Co. sold to Dorsey D. Neff, a lot 25 × 146 on Elliott street, Thirty-seventh ward; price, $900."
  • 1896-03-31: "Real estate," Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette, p. 7 (Newspapers.com 85430269): ". . . they have also sold a six-room frame house on Katherine street, Thirty-seventh ward, to Mary Cochran, for $3,700."

  • 1895-08-12: Common Council, p. 151: "Mr. Tyson presented ¶ No. 1556. On [sic] Ordinance authorizing the construction of a sewer on Susquehanna street (formerly Elliott street 37th ward) from a point 490 feet east of Brushton street to a connection with sewer on Brushton street. ¶ Which was referred to the Committee on Public Works."
  • 1895-09-03: Source:Ordinance-1895-1896-557 mentions "Susquehanna street, (formerly Elliott street, Thirty-seventh ward)."
  • 1896-04-10: "Gossip of the realty agents," Pittsburg Post, p. 7 (Newspapers.com 88230570): "Beriel Magoffin sold to Emma S. Henter a 25 × 82 foot property on Hale street, Thirty-seventh ward, for $1,000."
  • 1896-04-28: "Real estate movements," Pittsburg Post, p. 7 (Newspapers.com 88230700): "Samuel C. Gallagher sold to Charlotte Lindsey a lot 30 × 107 feet, in Mellon's Villa place plan, on Frankstown avenue, near Wheeler street, Thirty-seventh ward."
  • 1896-05-11: Select Council, p. 32: "Also, ¶ No. 140. An Ordinance authorizing the construction of sewers on the following named streets in the Thirty-seventh ward: Hale street, Hamilton avenue, Cora street, Susquehanna street, Tioga street, Maderia [sic] street, Rosedale street, Hawkeye street, and private properties of Charles and George Goettman, John C. Ralston and A. W. Mellon. ¶ Which was referred to the Committee on Public Works."
