1851: Source:Sidney-neff shows no road here.
1851-09: Source:Butler-cosgrove-sinclair-plan shows an unnamed road corresponding to modern Kaercher Street east of Gladstone Street. The property later owned by John A. Kaercher was owned by John W. Butler.
1862: Source:Beers shows the road in the Butler, Cosgrove, and Sinclair plan, with a continuation leading to the Squirrel Hill Road (modern Bigelow Street), probably along modern Bristol Street. This map also shows J. W. Butler.
1872: Source:Hopkins-1872, p. 69, shows only the part of the road in the Butler, Cosgrove, and Sinclair plan. The old John W. Butler property is shown with the name "Kretcher."
1873-10: Source:Winders-est-plan shows the part of Kaercher Street west of Gladstone Street, along with another street (modern Bristol Street) connecting to "Public Road" (modern Bigelow Street). Neither street is named.
1879-09-08, Common Council (Source:Municipal-record-1879, p. 79): "Mr. Kaercher presented, ¶ . . . ¶ Also, ¶ No. 183. Petition for the erection of two public lamps on Kaercher Avenue. ¶ Which was referred to the Committee on Gas Lighting."
1881-03-04: Source:Ordinance-1880-1881-33: "Kaercher street, from Property line to Greenfield avenue, Twenty-third ward."
1882: Source:Hopkins-1882, plate 14, shows the streets from the Winders plan and the roads in the Butler, Cosgrove, and Sinclair plan. Kaercher's property is labeled "J. A. Kaerchner [sic]."
