Nublock Street

This street was laid out as Nixon Street in 1849, according to a plan of lots by George Breed recorded in 1866.[1] It is in line with Nixon Street further west, so it may have been envisioned that they would eventually be joined.
Several streets in Allegheny City were renamed in 1896 to fix duplicates. The two Nixon Streets had never been connected, so the eastern Nixon Street was changed to Nevada Street.[2]
After Allegheny was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1907,[3] this name conflicted with Nevada Street in Swisshelm Park, so in 1910 it was renamed again, this time to Nublock Street.[4]
