From Pittsburgh Streets
Mingo Street
Neighborhood Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar
Origin of name Mingo people

Mingo Street is named for the Mingo people.[1][2][3][4][5] According to William Bright, the name of Mingo Creek in Washington County comes from a Lenape (Delaware) word mé:nkwe:w or ménkwe that referred to some neighboring Iroquois groups; the word has also been translated as "treacherous."[6]
