Maginn Street

From Pittsburgh Streets
Maginn Street
Neighborhood Perry South
Origin of name Charles Maginn
Maginn Avenue (until 1910)
Portion West of Irwin Avenue
Origin of name Charles Maginn

The portion of this street west of Irwin Avenue was laid out as Maginn Avenue in the City Savings Bank's Columbia Park plan, recorded in 1891.[1] It appears in the 1890 Hopkins atlas.[2]

It was named for Charles Maginn (or McGinn), who lived at the southwest corner of Marshall Avenue and Irwin Avenue.[3][4][2]

Maginn Avenue was officially changed to Maginn Street by a Pittsburgh city ordinance in 1910, which listed it as just "Maginn" (thoroughfares not otherwise designated were declared to be streets).[5]
