This alley appears, unlabeled, in the 1882 Hopkins atlas[1] and is labeled Jamaica Alley in the 1890 edition.[2] It became Jamaica Way in 1914 when a city ordinance changed all alleys to ways.[3] Bob Regan includes "Jamaica" in a list of streets named for countries.[4]
