This street appears, unlabeled, in the 1872 Hopkins atlas.[1] It is called Vine Street in the 1890 atlas.[2] There were at least five Vine Streets in the city of Allegheny, so it was renamed Hancock Street by an Allegheny city ordinance in 1896.[3] In 1910, three years after the annexation of Allegheny into the city of Pittsburgh, over 900 streets were renamed to fix duplicates. The name of this street conflicted with Hancock Street in Polish Hill, so it was changed to Honduras Street.[4]
Bob Regan includes "Honduras" in a list of streets named for countries.[5]
