Neighborhood | Squirrel Hill South |
Origin of name | The circuit it originally made from Schenley Drive back to Schenley Drive |
East Circuit Road was named by a city ordinance in 1936, which described it as the "road leading from intersection of West Circuit road to the intersection of Darlington Avenue."[1] The original circuit of the road, from Schenley Drive back to Schenley Drive, is shown in the 1910 Hopkins atlas; it was one of two adjacent roads making such a circuit (the other later named West Circuit Road).[2] The road does not complete this circuit today, and in fact no longer intersects Schenley Drive at all.
