Origin of name Duff family

Duff Street was laid out in 1871 in a plan of lots by E. P. Jones and Charles Jeremy.[1] It is named for the Duff family,[2] who owned the land to the west of the street.[3][4] Peter Duff lived here in 1853;[5] he was the founder of Duff's College of Pittsburgh.[2] Peter Duff had four children: William H. Duff, Charles P. Duff, Thomas Duff, and Mrs. John Dalzell.[2]
