This alley was laid out in 1866 in a plan of lots for John and Henry Leffler.[1] That plan did not give it a name, but at some point it became known as Loeffler Alley[2][3] (an alternative spelling of Leffler). It It was changed to Dryden Alley by a Pittsburgh city ordinance in 1881.[3] It became Dryden Way in 1914, when another ordinance changed all alleys in the city to ways.[4]
