Dornbush Street

From Pittsburgh Streets
Dornbush Street
Neighborhood East Hills
Origin of name C. C. Dornbush
East View Street (until 1906)
Origin of name C. C. Dornbush's East View plan of lots

This street was first laid out as East View Street in 1889 at the edge of C. C. Dornbush's East View plan, which gave 25 feet for a proposed 50-foot-wide street.[1] The other 25 feet were given in 1892 in the neighboring Perchment's Addition plan.[2]

Sterrett Township, which included most of today's East Hills neighborhood, was annexed by Pittsburgh on January 1, 1906.[3] The name East View Street conflicted with that of Eastview Street in Homewood West, so later that year it was changed to Dornbush Street,[4] named for the developer who originally laid it out.
