Cottage Place

Cottage Place
Neighborhood Brighton Heights
Cottage Alley (until 1910)

This alley was laid out in 1892 in two plans of lots, one by Henry Falck and the other by George Rosenfelder and Edward W. L. Falck, though neither of these plans gave it a name.[1][2] It was named Cottage Alley by 1902.[3]

After Allegheny City was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1907,[4] this name conflicted with another Cottage Alley in Lawrenceville. The problem of duplicate street names was fixed by a city ordinance in 1910, which renamed over 900 streets and alleys. Cottage Alley in Brighton Heights became Cottage Place, while Cottage Alley in Lawrenceville became Cessna Alley (today Cessna Way).[5]
