Colma Way

From Pittsburgh Streets
Colma Way
Neighborhood Squirrel Hill North
Origin of name Probably an arbitrary name beginning with C

This alley was laid out by Levi De Wolf in two plans of lots, recorded in 1890 and 1891, though neither of these plans gave it a name.[1][2] A 1916 city ordinance that established the grade of Beck Way referred to it as Colma Way;[3] this name was made official by another ordinance the next year.[4]

The three alleys named by the 1917 ordinance are Arco Way, Beck Way, and Colma Way. It seems likely that these were arbitrarily chosen names beginning with the letters AB, and C.
