Origin of name Art Blakey

The name Blakey Court was officially accepted by a city ordinance in 2016.[1] The name is that of Art Blakey (1919–1990), a jazz drummer and bandleader from Pittsburgh.

Nearby Eckstein Place, Garner Court, Strayhorn Way, and Turrentine Place are also named for jazz musicians from Pittsburgh.
