Origin of name Stanley Turrentine

The name Turrentine Place was officially accepted by a city ordinance in 2016.[1] The name is that of Stanley Turrentine (1934–2000), a jazz tenor saxophonist from the Hill District.

Nearby Blakey Court, Eckstein Place, Garner Court, and Strayhorn Way are also named for jazz musicians from Pittsburgh.
