Mazeroski Way
Neighborhood North Shore
Origin of name Bill Mazeroski

Mazeroski Way is named for Bill Mazeroski, second baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates (1956–1972), famous for his walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 7 of the 1960 World Series at Forbes Field.[1][2]

The street was created in 2001 when PNC Park opened. It was originally going to be called Avenue of the Pirates, and granite curbs bearing that name had already been installed, but it was quickly renamed for Mazeroski after he was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.[1]

The street was built and named by the Sports and Exhibition Authority.[3] The name Mazeroski Way was officially accepted by a city resolution in 2006.[4]
