Arctic Way was named by a city ordinance in 1930, the year after Lincoln Place was annexed into the City of Pittsburgh, along with nearby Antarctic Way.[1]
Bob Regan includes "Arctic" and "Antarctic" in a list of streets named for oceans, but gives no evidence or explanation to support this claim (as opposed to their being named for, say, the Arctic and Antarctic regions in general).[2]
