Adel Way

Adel Way runs northwestward from Hilton Street, south of Herschel Street.[1] It was laid out in 1885 in a plan of lots for Thomas P. Hershberger, though that plan did not give it a name.[2]
Elliott Borough was annexed by Pittsburgh on January 2, 1905.[3] That May, a city ordinance named or renamed many of the streets and alleys in the former borough, and this unnamed alley was named Adell Way (with two L's).[4] In 1910, another ordinance that officially established the names of all thoroughfares in Pittsburgh changed the spelling to Adel Way (with one L), perhaps inadvertently.[5]
Today Adel Way is just a grassy gap between houses, but there is still a street sign for it on Hilton Street.
